What does Facebook do when a user passes away?

What does Facebook do when a user passes away?
In response to growing awareness to end-of-life situations, Facebook has overhauled the way it deals with profiles and timelines when a user passes away. What will happen to your Facebook page if something should happen to you? If a loved one dies, do you know what to do with their account?

The new rules have changed a little bit. The new memorialized profile will be set to whatever that person had it set to while still alive. So if the deceased had a private profile, it will remain private. If the profile was public, it will remain public.
Previously, when a person passes away, Facebook would turn the page into a memoralized profile, only visible to that person’s friends.
Facebook will also let the deceased’s loved ones create a “Look Back” video.

But it didn’t take long for fake video links to start baiting people into installing malware on their own computers. Above is what a possible fake might look like.
This is just one example. In order to view your Look Back video, you shouldn’t need to install anything on Facebook or your computer. Make sure you look at the URL and see the secure ‘https’ indicator. The proper URL should behttps://www.facebook.com/lookback/.
Make sure you share this tip on your Facebook page so none of your friends or family falls for this trick.
