Son of God is a 2014 American epic biblical drama film based on Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's ten-hour miniseries The Bible. The film will feature selections of the miniseries as well as deleted scenes not featured during the telecast.[1]

Synopsis[edit]

As a stand-alone film, Son of God will explore the life of Jesus Christ from his birth through the resurrection.[1]

Cast[edit]

Development[edit]

The film will feature selections of the miniseries as well as deleted scenes not featured during the telecast, despite the fact that Jesus appeared in five of the ten episodes.[1][2] It has been confirmed that the film will be released on February 28, 2014, with anMPAA rating of PG-13.[3][4]
According to The Hollywood Reporter, verified by Roma Downey on Hannity (Fox News Network, 2/21/2014), unlike the miniseries, the film will not include the scenes featuring Satan due to controversy from the series that compared Satan's resemblance to President Barack Obama.[5]

Release[edit]

Marketing[edit]

Prior to the film's release, numerous church leaders rented out theaters for the premiere screenings in different locations in the US.[6]
